You may or may not know that I am in the process of converting a VW Transporter T4 into a campervan. I'm constantly searching for ingenious ways of designing and using such a small space with a degree of flexibility and craftsmanship. Unusual and well crafted ideas for the interior are always jumping out at me when I search through blogs and photos on the Internet. This fantastic creation I want to share with you was thought up and created by a good friend of mine, Geoffrey, for his slightly larger VW van. It's absolute genius and I just have to share it with the world.

As architecture students desk space and room to work is fundamental to our coursework and so having a space that can accommodate that is vital.

In addition to being a decent size desk in such a small space, the use of glass sprayed white from the underside forms a lightbox, ideal for tracing. The whole thing folds away seamlessly into the walls of the van and looks beautiful in either an open or closed position.

All the hinges and sliding mechanisms as well as the table itself were custom designed and made by Geoff, I really admire his ability to turn an idea into a beautiful handcrafted reality.

I hope this has inspired some of you!
