Outlander - Season 7
Outlander is a historical drama television series based on the Outlander novel series by Diana Gabaldon, starring Catriona Balfe and Sam Heughan. It is currently in its eighth and final season of filming, with a prequel Blood of my Blood also being commissioned. The filming of the series is primarily based out of Wardpark Studios in Cumbernauld, just outside of Glasgow, with a number of locations within an hour’s drive of the studio in amongst some of Scotland’s finest landscapes.
Screen Scotland run traineeships to get people into the tv and film industry within Scotland that wouldn’t otherwise have a foot in the door. Historically the tv and film industry has been a word of mouth, who-you-know, way of operating and to increase the skills availability in Scotland, Screen Scotland have been keen to fund places to increase opportunities.
Involvement
I was taken on as one of the trainees in March 2022 as a Trainee Carpenter for the 7th Season of Outlander. I was kept on as Junior Carpenter in May 2022 and worked until late Autumn.
This was an outstanding opportunity to get involved with tv and film in Scotland. The knowledge, experience and skills of the cast and crew is immense, and the entire experience was very rewarding. Outlander has become a large family of wonderfully skilled and passionate individuals and the love for their crafts shine through.
